📖 SCRIPTURE READING
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” — Philippians 1:6
🕊️ MEDITATION
One of the greatest frustrations in life is wanting something to happen before its time.
You want the result now, You want the promotion now, You want the business to grow now, You want the ministry to become great now, You want the relationship to mature now, You want the dream to become reality now. But there is a principle we must understand:
BUILDING TAKES TIME.
A house is not built by putting a roof on an empty piece of land, A foundation must be laid, The structure must rise, The electrical and plumbing systems must be installed, The walls must be completed, The finishing must be done, Then the building becomes ready, The process may look slow, but every stage has a purpose.
GOD WORKS THROUGH PROCESS
God could have created David as king immediately. Instead, David first learned how to care for sheep, He fought lions and bears, He learned courage, He developed leadership, He was anointed king long before he actually occupied the throne.
📖 1 Samuel 16:13
David received the oil before he received the throne. There was a gap between his anointing and his manifestation, That gap was not wasted, It was preparation. David needed the process because the throne required something deeper than anointing. It required character, courage, wisdom, patience, and experience.
DON’T CONFUSE DELAY WITH DENIAL
Sometimes you look at your life and say:
“Why hasn’t it happened yet?” But perhaps God is saying: “I’m still building you for it.” There are things you are praying for that require a stronger version of you. You are asking for greater influence. God may first develop greater character. You are asking for greater wealth, God may first teach you greater stewardship. You are asking for leadership, God may first teach you how to serve. You are asking for a larger platform, God may first develop your private life.
The size of your future may require the depth of your preparation.
SOMETIMES GOD IS BUILDING YOU BEFORE BUILDING THROUGH YOU
This is one of the most important lessons of the series. You may be asking: “Lord, when will You use me?” But God may be working on: Your character, Your discipline, Your patience, Your wisdom, Your emotional maturity, Your integrity.
Your consistency, Your ability to handle responsibility. God doesn’t only prepare the blessing; He prepares the person who will carry it.
A TREE DOESN’T GROW OVERNIGHT
When you plant a seed, you don’t see a tree immediately. First, something happens beneath the ground. Roots begin to develop. You may see nothing happening above the soil. But beneath the surface, something is happening. Then a small shoot appears. Then the plant grows. Then branches develop. Eventually, fruit appears.
Invisible growth is still growth. Perhaps you don’t see much happening in your life right now.
Don’t assume nothing is happening. God may be developing things beneath the surface.
DON’T FORCE WHAT GOD IS DEVELOPING
Impatience can make people make decisions they later regret. They enter relationships prematurely. They take opportunities they are not prepared for. They borrow excessively to look successful. They abandon their calling because someone else’s journey appears faster.
They compromise their values because they want immediate results. Never destroy your foundation because you are impatient for the building. If God is building something in your life, let Him build it properly.
PHILIPPIANS 1:6
Paul said: “He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it…”
This is encouraging because it means God is not careless with unfinished work.
If God started something, He knows how to complete it. You may feel unfinished.
You may see areas where you still need growth.
You may wonder whether you will ever become what God has called you to become.
But God is still working.
You are a work in progress.
Don’t condemn yourself because you haven’t arrived.
YOUR CURRENT STAGE HAS VALUE
Don’t wish away every stage of your life.
There are lessons you can only learn in certain seasons. There are relationships you can only appreciate after certain experiences.
There are skills you can only develop through repetition. There are dimensions of character that only pressure can reveal. Don’t waste today’s season wishing you were already in tomorrow’s season. Learn, Grow, Build, Prepare, Pray, Serve, and Be faithful.
📌 KINGDOM TRUTHS
1. There Is a Time for Every Purpose
📖 Ecclesiastes 3:1
God works through seasons.
2. God Is Still Working on You
📖 Philippians 1:6
You may not be finished, but God is not finished with you.
3. Preparation Comes Before Greater Responsibility
📖 1 Samuel 16:13; 17:34–37
David’s private preparation preceded his public assignment.
🙏 PRAYER
Heavenly Father, teach me patience with Your process.
Help me understand that not every delay is denial and not every slow season is wasted. Build my character before You increase my responsibility.
Teach me to appreciate preparation, small beginnings, and gradual growth.
Deliver me from comparison and impatience.
Give me grace to remain faithful where I am until You lead me into the next season. Complete the good work You have started in me. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
📌 ACTION POINT FOR TODAY
Ask yourself: “What is God trying to build in me before He builds something through me?”
Write down three things. For example: Character. Discipline. Wisdom. Then choose one and deliberately work on it today. Stop asking only, “When will I arrive?” Also ask:
“Who am I becoming while I am on the way?”
🌟 SPECIAL INSIGHT
Joseph received dreams of greatness when he was young. But between the dream and the fulfillment were years of: Betrayal, Slavery, False accusation, Prison. Yet those years were not empty. God was preparing Joseph for a responsibility that was much larger than his original dream. The process was preparing him for the position. Sometimes we want God to take us directly from promise to palace.
But God may take us through preparation, testing, learning, waiting, and growth.
Don’t hate the process.
The process is building the capacity to carry the promise.
