 SCRIPTURE READING
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” — Isaiah 53:5
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” — 2 Corinthians 5:21
️ MEDITATION
One of the deepest mysteries of the cross is substitution. Jesus took our place.
Humanity deserved the punishment for sin, yet Christ stepped in and bore the judgment that belonged to us.
He carried the pain, the shame, and the penalty so that we could receive forgiveness, peace, and righteousness.
This divine exchange is the heart of the gospel:
He took our sin so we could receive His righteousness.
He took our wounds so we could receive healing.
He took our condemnation so we could receive justification.
The cross was not merely suffering—it was a divine substitution where Christ stood in the place of humanity.
Because of this mystery, believers no longer live under the burden of sin’s penalty. The price has been paid.
