SERIES: DON’T SUBSTITUTE PRAYER FOR WORK
 SCRIPTURE READING
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” Proverbs 22:29
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” — Colossians 3:23
️ MEDITATION
One of the greatest principles in God’s Kingdom is the principle of diligence. God is not only interested in what we do, but also in how we do it.
Diligence is working faithfully, consistently, and excellently, even when no one is watching. It is refusing to settle for mediocrity because your work is ultimately an act of worship to God.
Many people desire promotion, but few embrace the discipline that precedes it. God’s pattern is clear: faithfulness before fruitfulness, diligence before distinction, and service before promotion.
Consider Joseph. Whether he was serving in Potiphar’s house or imprisoned in Egypt, Joseph worked with excellence. He did not allow difficult circumstances to produce careless work.
Because of his diligence, God elevated him from the prison to the palace.
 Scripture Guidance:
“And the Lord was with Joseph… and that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper.” Genesis 39:23
Think about David. Before he became king, he faithfully cared for his father’s sheep. He protected them from lions and bears, proving his faithfulness in private before God entrusted him with a nation.
 Scripture Guidance:
“Thy servant kept his father’s sheep.” 1 Samuel 17:34
Also, consider Paul the Apostle. He tirelessly preached the Gospel, planted churches, mentored believers, and even supported himself through tentmaking. He understood that serving God required commitment and hard work.
 Scripture Guidance:
“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.” Romans 12:11
This is the mystery: God blesses the work of diligent hands, not idle wishes.
Prayer invites God’s blessing, but diligence prepares the vessel to receive it.
A farmer may pray for rain, but he must still prepare the soil. A student may pray for success, but must still study.
A minister may pray for souls, but must still preach the Gospel.
God’s grace does not eliminate responsibility—it empowers it.
 KINGDOM TRUTHS ABOUT DILIGENCE
